How To Take Instagram Photos Your Customers Will Love!

26th February 2015

Do you want to share more of your product images on Instagram?

Let's take a quick look at why you should:

• 1.2 billion likes every day
• 8,500 likes per second
• Over 1,000 comments per second

So, its pretty obvious why you should, now let's take a look about how you do it!

Step 1: What's Your Goal?

So, you're ready to shoot - but don't reach for the camera just yet! You need to come up with a strategy. What do you want to show in your images?

Do you want to feature customers using your products?
Show your customers where your products come from and the effort that's put in to make them fabulous?
Host a competition?
Promote a new product or release a teaser photo?

Think also about your business's calendar. Is there a major event coming up?

Here's a good example for Nike in preparation for the World Cup 2014!

Step 2: Pick a product

Again, looking at the sporting example, share content that is relevant to the conversation you're trying to start or get involved with. Look at this image below from Adidas published just as the world cup got underway.

Step 3: Tell a story

Every image should tell a story. Going back to Nike...

This image really says it all. Its everything Nike is and wants to be.

Step 4: #Hashtags!

Hashtags are what helps to make a great photo be seen. If you don't choose the right hashtags you're done for.

Do your research and find out what hashtags are trending, this will help your content get exposure to the millions that use Instagram every day.

Look at this image, again from Nike, for fathers day

Its simple but effective and achieved over 180,000 likes!

Step 5: When to post

Plan your posting schedule carefully. Timing is everything and you should be prepared to share your content in real-time for greater customer engagement.

Instagram is a community of people capturing moments in time from their lives and sharing them with others, and it shouldn't be any different for you and your business.
